The NYU Steinhardt Programs in Music Education and Music Technology in association with IMPACT Workshops presents the fourth IMPACT Conference August 2 - August 5, 2017 in New York City.

This conference will bring together school, community arts, media, music educators and activists, musicians and artists, health professionals, university researchers, and industry together for a 3-day series of interactive sessions, performances, and hands-on workshops.

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of researchers and practitioners in education, the arts, and technology. Notifications will be made by March 15, 2017. Early submissions are encouraged.


The four strands of this year’s conference are:

• Music, Health, and Accessibility

• Interactive Multimedia Experiences

• Experience Design for Learning and Creating

• Social Justice and Activism

Conference presentations take the form of 1 hour hands-on demo sessions and 2 hour interactive workshops.

Submission Deadline

The deadline for conference submissions is by midnight on April 1, 2017. All submissions will be reviewed by an expert panel of reviewers. Notifications will be made by April 15, 2017. Early submissions are encouraged.

Presentation Formats

Presenters will have the option of submitting proposals for 1 hour hands-on demo sessions or 2 hour interactive workshops. The point of these sessions is to actively involve the audience as participants, rather than lecture and direct presentation.

Presentation Requirements

All presenters must register to attend the symposium by the pre-registration deadline so their names will be included in the program.

    Higher Education

    Participants

    Includes conference registration, workshops, daily coffee breaks, lunch, and the Wednesday (August 2nd) and Friday (August 4th) receptions.

  • $399

    Industry

    Participants

    Includes 1 conference registration, table at Friday night reception, and one pre-conference email to attendees. Additional registrations for Industry participants can be purchased for $50 each.

  • $100

    K-12/Community

    Full-Time Educators

    Includes conference registration, workshops, daily coffee breaks, lunch, and the Wednesday (August 2nd) and Friday (August 4th) receptions.

  • Free

    Full-Time Students

    K-12, College & University

The fees for all registrant types includes conference registration, workshops, daily coffee breaks, lunch,
and the Wednesday (August 2nd) and Friday (August 4th) receptions.

NYU Housing is a separate cost from the conference fee.

Please note that there is a $5 processing fee added to the final itemized bill.

Accommodation


On-Campus Housing

IMPACT participants have the option of staying on the NYU campus in shared, suite-style dormitory housing.

• Shared space: $63 (per person) per night

• Single room: $92 (per person) per night
